UCF is planning an ordinary, pre-pandemic course schedule for the fall. As a result, students taking face-to-face classes will be expected to attend classes in person. You can confirm your course modality in myUCF. If you have specific questions about the course modality or attendance expectations, you can reach out to the faculty member listed for the course.

You can also contact your academic advisor if you need personalized assistance with your academic plans. They are in the best position to provide guidance on how you can stay on your path to graduation and help to navigate the various options that best fit your situation.

Students must complete the COVID Self-Checker in the UCF mobile app at move-in. More details are being emailed directly to residents and shared on UCF Housing’s Move-In page.

Yes, UCF is planning for ordinary, pre-pandemic classes, services and events this fall.

In-person meetings and events are allowed at this time, though individual supervisors and organizers have discretion as to the best format for their meeting, including hybrid meetings with an online option. We are also sharing guidelines for planning events this fall.

Employees (Updated August 10)

You should speak with your supervisor about whether you can continue the arrangement, and, if approved, you must submit a new Remote Work Arrangement Request.

UCF plans to return to pre-pandemic operations this fall, in alignment with directives from the State of Florida and Florida’s State University System. We expect that all members of our community take personal precautions, including wearing masks indoors and getting vaccinated to protect themselves if they are able to do so.

Students attend classes and live on campus, making it important that many services be offered in-person and on campus. As such, student- or employee-facing departments are required to maintain an appropriate level of staffing at the campus work location. That may mean either no or limited options for employees in those offices to work remotely.

No, not without provost or vice president approval. Employees who move out of state while working remotely must notify UCF immediately.

Decisions about remote work arrangements must consider the effectiveness of the individual to perform their work assignments remotely and the impact it has on their team and the institution. Remote working is not an option for all employees, and approval of a remote work arrangement is a privilege that is not guaranteed.

Communication with your supervisor is more important than ever when you are working remotely. You should keep your supervisor informed about your health status and decide together whether you are well enough to work remotely or need to use accrued leave to cover any hours not worked.

Our expectation is that remote working arrangements will be hybrid schedules, meaning hours completed at both the central workplace and the agreed upon remote workplace. Agreements should at most be two days remote, and most often only 20% of a work week. Full-time remote work will be approved only in rare situations.

A remote work agreement can be approved for up to a year. At that time, the agreement must be evaluated and re-approved to continue. The employee or department may, at its discretion, implement, continue, discontinue or modify remote work arrangements at any time, with appropriate notice to the employee and HR.

Yes. The employee or the department can discontinue the remote work arrangement at any time based upon the needs of the department or the employee’s performance.

The remote work policy does not apply to OPS student employees. However, we encourage supervisors to speak with their student employees about their departments’ plans and what they mean for student employees.

The decision to allow remote work arrangements lies with the dean, director or department head or designee. Requests for more than 2 days remote or for any period of out-of-state work also must be approved by the provost or appropriate vice president.

The policy applies except to the extent that it conflicts with any provisions of a collective bargaining agreement.

Employees are encouraged to reach out to their HR liaison or UCF Human Resources with questions about working remotely, benefits and leave.

COVID-19 Vaccine (Updated August 10)

Yes. The Pfizer vaccine is available at the Student Health Center on the main campus, and we strongly encourage all students, faculty and staff to get fully vaccinated.

UCF is administering the two-dose Pfizer vaccine. On Aug. 23, the FDA granted full approval to Pfizer’s vaccine, an important step in increasing vaccination rates among the vaccine-hesitant.

Upon completion of the first dose, Student Health Services will provide instructions for scheduling your second dose in the recommended three weeks.

Yes, our out-of-state students do qualify for vaccines at State of Florida sites. Use this COVID-19 vaccine locator to find a place near you.

UCF continues to encourage our campus community to follow CDC guidelines after you’ve been fully vaccinated.

If you are an Orange County resident and need to request a CDC COVID-19 vaccination replacement card, visit the Florida Department of Orange County’s webpage to make this request. If you are NOT an Orange County, Fla. resident, please contact your County Health Department where you reside in order to make this request.

General Vaccine Information (Updated August 12)

None of the COVID-19 vaccines currently in development in the U.S. use the live virus that causes COVID-19. The goal of vaccination is to teach our immune systems how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. Sometimes this process can cause symptoms, such as fever. These symptoms are normal and are a sign that the body is building immunity.

No, the vaccine won’t cause you to test positive on a COVID-19 viral test, such as the PCR or antigen tests. However, you may test positive for the antibody test, due to developing an immune response.

There is not enough information currently available to say if or for how long after infection someone is protected from getting COVID-19 again, and more studies are needed. Vaccination is advised regardless of a history of COVID illness.

The CDC states that any vaccine can cause side effects. For the most part these are minor, for example, a sore arm or low-grade fever that go away within a few days.

While there is no federal or state mandate to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, all eligible individuals are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as they are able. In addition to protecting each recipient against infection, it is essential that a large enough percent of the population receives the vaccine in order to achieve “herd immunity” to prevent continued spread of the virus causing COVID-19. We must each play our part in this process, as we have in the past with vaccines to eliminate the threat of polio, measles and other viral infections.

There is no requirement for students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at this time, though UCF is expecting students, faculty and staff to get vaccinated in the interest of our community’s health and safety.

There is no cost for the vaccine. However, vaccination providers will be able to charge an administration fee for giving the shot. Vaccine providers can get this fee reimbursed by the patient’s public or private insurance company or, for uninsured patients, by the Health Resources and Services Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

UCF is encouraging all who are able to do so to get fully vaccinated if they have not yet already. We are not collecting information about vaccination status at this time.

Impact at UCF (Updated August 12)

Our expectation is that students, faculty and staff wear masks while indoors, in line with CDC guidance and with Florida’s State University System and in an effort to help protect our campus community. However, neither the university nor individual faculty and staff members may require individuals to wear masks if they choose not to do so.

UCF expects continued following of latest CDC guidelines. All students, employees and visitors at all UCF campuses are encouraged to monitor their symptoms using the COVID Self-Checker available online and in the UCF Mobile app. Employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in proximity to someone who has must stay home and not come to UCF.

No. Under the new guidelines, no member of the UCF community is permitted to require any other member of the UCF community to wear a face covering on campus, whether in an office, classroom or other location. You may encourage others to wear face coverings, but you may not require them to do so.

Yes. As medical facilities, the Student Health Center, UCF Health, and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) still require face coverings inside their buildings. Additionally, as a simulated clinical environment, the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center at the College of Medicine also requires face coverings.

UCF encourages visitors to our campuses to wear face coverings indoors, even if they are vaccinated. We also ask that visitors monitor their symptoms using the COVID Self-Checker available online, and stay home if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in proximity to someone who has.

Employees and students should follow the policy of their host state college when they are working at or studying on those campuses.

Robust tracing of COVID-19 cases at UCF will help the university identify and contain potentially impacted populations. UCF will continue to partner with state and local health officials to regularly monitor rates of new cases.

The request to wear masks can be simple: “Please wear masks in this class for the protection of yourselves and those around you who may be at higher risk from COVID complications.” Or, you may add personal reasons that this is a matter of concern to you, such as living with someone who is immunocompromised and at higher risk. Please be certain that you are asking, not attempting to mandate.

Pandemic precautions such as the COVID Line, contact tracing, wastewater testing, genomic surveillance and the optional COVID Self-Checker will remain in effect through the fall. Everyone is expected to follow the latest CDC guidance regarding wearing masks indoors.

Those with limitations due to a medical condition that qualify for an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) can request an accommodation by completing the Reasonable Accommodation Request form and submitting it to the Office of Institutional Equity. For more information about the accommodation request process, please visit the OIE website.

Note that being at increased risk of severe illness related to COVID-19 alone does not qualify for an accommodation under the ADA.

Increased cleaning and daily classroom disinfections will continue, along with access to hand-sanitizing stations. During the pandemic, many touchless faucets, paper-towel dispensers and step-and-pull door openers were installed in high-touch areas. Additionally, HVAC systems across UCF’s campuses also have been upgraded over the past year to mitigate the spread of pathogens through the air.

COVID-19 Exposure (Updated August 10)

If you become ill with symptoms of COVID-19, stay home and contact your primary care physician, who will determine whether testing or treatment is needed. UCF students and employees must call the UCF COVID Line at 407-823-2509

Also follow these best practices while awaiting test results and if you test positive for COVID-19:

  • Do not leave your home, except to get medical care, until cleared by your healthcare provider.
  • Do not share household items.
  • Wear a mask around others if contact is necessary.
  • Report if you have tested positive for COVID-19 by calling the UCF COVID Line at 407-823-2509

If there is the possibility that you have been exposed to COVID-19 because a colleague has tested positive, you will be notified directly. Through contact tracing, the Department of Health will assess and inform all persons who may be at risk and require quarantine and/or testing. In line with public health practices and medical and student privacy laws, only those who would need to know about confirmed COVID-19 cases for personal health and safety reasons will be informed.

The Department of Health will notify UCF of all known or suspected cases at UCF, and confirmed cases will be shared with the public via the dashboard on the COVID-19 website.
UCF Housing, Environmental Health and Safety or other areas will be notified of known or suspected cases and the need for isolation, quarantine and appropriate cleaning and disinfecting measures.

If You Test Positive

If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home and do not come to UCF. Avoid contact with other people and social gatherings to keep from spreading your illness to others. Employees should notify their supervisor that they are ill and not able to return to work and follow the instructions of their healthcare provider. All students and faculty and staff members should notify UCF that they have tested positive by calling the UCF COVID Line at 407-823-2509.

If Someone You’ve Been Close to Tests Positive

If you know that you have had close contact with a co-worker, visitor, family member or other individual who has confirmed COVID-19, you should stay home and contact your primary care physician, who will determine whether testing is needed. A high-risk exposure generally involves exposure of eyes, nose or mouth, particularly if the individual was in contact of less than 6 feet for a period more than 15 minutes over a 24-hour period with a person infected with COVID-19.

Any student, faculty or staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19 should call the UCF COVID Line at 407-823-2509. This will start the contact tracing process, and Student Health Services employees will follow up with additional instructions for taking care of yourself and protecting others.

COVID Self-Checker

No. UCF is committed to protecting your privacy. The symptoms you indicate in the self-checker will not be shared or stored in any system of record.

No, but the self-checker remains available in the UCF Mobile app and online as a tool for screening symptoms, and we encourage students, faculty, staff and campus visitors to use it.

Armor Up Raffle

UCF is encouraging all students to get vaccinated as soon as possible. According to the CDC, COVID 19-vaccines are effective. They can keep you from getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19, and they can help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19. To help encourage those who have not been vaccinated and thank students who have, the university is offering up items for raffle. The items include technology bundles, grants and tuition waivers. Students are being encouraged to get vaccinated by October 15, 2021.

Current UCF students who have received all applicable doses of a COVID-19 vaccine are eligible to enter the raffle.

No. You can only enter the raffle once. Your one entry is eligible for all remaining drawings. If chosen as a winner, you are ineligible for any remaining drawings.

Winners will be randomly selected through three drawings held on September 15, September 30 and October 16, 2021. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET the day before each drawing.

To be eligible for the raffle, you need to have received a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson, or both doses of a two-dose vaccines, such as Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna, by October 15, 2021. When you click on the entry form, you will need to login using your UCF login and enter your contact information, the brand of COVID-19 vaccine you have completed and the date(s) of your vaccination shots. UCF collects vaccination status on a voluntary basis.

If you are unable to get vaccinated due to a medical or religious reason, please contact us and an alternative form will be shared with you.

Receiving all applicable doses of a COVID-19 vaccine makes you eligible for the raffle. If you received a COVID-19 vaccine outside of the U.S., other than Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna, please select “other.” Everyone who is selected as a winner will need to provide proof of vaccination status with a valid vaccine card.

If you are selected as a winner, you will need to provide proof of vaccination status with your vaccine card.

The last drawing will be conducted on October 16 and you must enter the day before, October 15, 2021 by 11:59 p.m. ET to be eligible. You must have received your single-dose vaccine or both doses of a two-dose vaccine on or before October 15, 2021.

Drawings will be conducted on September 15, September 30 and October 16, 2021. After each drawing, winners will be contacted and will receive instructions. Each winner will need to provide proof of their vaccination by showing their vaccine card when they pick up their prize.

Currently, the UCF Health Center is administering the FDA-approved two-dose Pfizer vaccine.

This raffle is for current UCF students who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. According to the CDC, people who have had COVID-19 should still get vaccinated to be better protected against the disease.

When an individual wins anything valued at $600 or more, it is reported to the federal government. If your prize is valued at $600 or greater, you will need to fill out the appropriate tax documentation when you claim your prize.

Faculty | International Students

We continue to monitor COVID-19 cases in our community and on campus and will share any updates to UCF’s plans with the campus community. The UCF coronavirus website is also kept updated with the latest information.


  • Attendance requirements should be relaxed as much as possible without compromising the learning objectives of the course.
  • Faculty should have clear instructions and adequate resources online for students to make up work or complete work asynchronously when necessary.

Yes. For faculty who are teaching a face-to-face course, you will be notified if a student will be unable to attend class due to COVID. UCF’s public health professionals also determine whether other steps are needed in your class. For example, if contact tracers see a pattern of positive tests in your class, they may determine that the class needs to meet remotely for a time. Faculty may not move to remote teaching on their own, based on reports of illness.

We understand that your students respect you and trust you as their faculty member. You can show them the website for the latest information and resources, and if appropriate, point them to UCF Counseling and Psychological Services.

  • Tell them to call the UCF COVID Line.
  • When the student calls the COVID Line that begins a process through which you will be
    notified by Jana Jasinski that the student may be away from your in-person class
    temporarily. You only need to work with the student so they may continue in the class.
  • If you have concerns about a student not calling the COVID Line, you may call to provide
    the student’s name to COVID Line nurses
  • Please do not tell or advise your entire class to contact the COVID Line.

As a faculty member, if you test positive or have symptoms:

  • Stay home.
  • Call the UCF COVID Line at 407-823-2509.
  • Notify your chair.
  • If you are ill, take sick leave. Work with your chair to arrange substitute instruction or
  • If you feel well, your class may be temporarily remote until you are cleared to come
    back. Your chair will email Jana Jasinski, and you will be notified of the decision.

International Students

Please refer to the UCF Global COVID-19 FAQ page to review the enrollment requirements for your program.

Yes. Continuing students with an active SEVIS record may remain in the United States as long as they are enrolled full-time and maintaining F-1 status. Continuing students are not required to have an in-person course so all courses may be online. Since UCF is offering a significantly greater number of in-person courses in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022, most programs will not be able to accommodate a fully online schedule so it may be necessary to take in-person courses on-campus.

Students who have an initial I-20 or DS-2019 for the Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 semester must have an in-person course. Please refer to the UCF Global COVID-19 FAQ page to review the enrollment requirements for your program.

Yes. You should enroll full-time in online classes (if available) from outside of the U.S. in order to maintain an Active SEVIS record.

International students returning from Brazil, China, India, Iran, or South Africa may return to the United States directly under the National Interest Exception within 30 days of the start of the Fall 2021 semester. International students returning from the Schengen Area, United Kingdom, and Ireland may continue to travel directly to the United States under the National Interest Exception without date restrictions. New students entering the US may only enter up to 30 days before the start of classes.

Yes. Currently, all travelers returning to the United States are required to present a negative COVID-19 test result within 3 days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 within 3 months. Starting November 8, travelers will be required to present proof of full vaccination to enter the United States. Additional information will be available at on the CDC Travel webpage once it becomes available.

UCF is following the CDC guidelines on returning from international travel. Current CDC guidance outlines different requirements regarding testing and self-quarantine depending on vaccination status. Since guidance is fluid, it is important to review the CDC website when planning your return to the United States.

HEERF Funding

(Updated August 18, 2021)

Students enrolled during any semester impacted by COVID-19 – since Spring 2020 — are eligible to apply for the funds. Students enrolled in Fall 2021 will be given priority; awards for other students will be subject to the availability of funding. UCF Continuing Education students are not eligible to apply.

UCF students who are U.S. citizens, permanent U.S. residents or eligible non-citizens should complete the application found at this link:

International students and/or students who are classified as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) should complete the application found at this link:

Yes. Students who received any amount of funding from prior rounds of awards are eligible to receive funds in this round.

Each student who is awarded funds will receive $2,000.

Applications will remain open until further notice.

Awards will be made on a rolling basis as applications are received. UCF plans to begin awarding the money to students enrolled in Fall 2021 by early September. You will receive an email notification when you receive your award, and awards will be posted in myUCF.

Students will be able to opt in to having the funds directly applied to their tuition and fees balance. Details about how to opt in will be included when students are notified that they will receive funds.

No. However, we still encourage you to fill out the FAFSA to help ensure you can access all of the financial aid resources available to you.

If students are continuing to experience financial distress, they are encouraged to contact Student Care Services to discuss eligibility for Student Emergency funds by emailing [email protected]

Students enrolled for any semester during the pandemic – since Spring 2020 – are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to students enrolled in Fall 2021. Awards to other students will be contingent upon the availability of funding.

No, the money is a federal emergency grant that is not required to be repaid.

Student emergency grants can be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance (COA) or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, healthcare (including mental healthcare) or childcare.

International, DACA, TPS and other undocumented students who apply are required to provide support documentation in order to determine financial need and/or hardship.

Students who are ineligible for HEERF funds and are experiencing financial crisis may contact Student Care Services to be screened for additional support. Be advised that some resources will not become available until all other avenues of financial assistance have been exhausted. If you are unsure of your current financial aid options, please contact Student Financial Assistance to confirm if you have aid available.

Students who receive HEERF funds may reach out to Student Care Services for screening for additional emergency funds if still they are experiencing a financial crisis such as pending eviction, food insecurity, or homelessness.
