As a newly admitted student, you’ll want to begin planning for your transition to UCF right away. Here’s a list of next steps to help make the journey ahead go smoothly.
We encourage you to bookmark or print this list and refer to it throughout the enrollment process.
AFTER ADMISSION
✅ REVIEW ADMISSION LETTER
You must enroll for the term indicated on your admission letter. If you do not register and enroll for the term to which you are admitted, your classes will be dropped for subsequent terms and your admission revoked. If you wish to change your term of entry, you must submit a new application and fee through your Future Knight Portal.
Check your admission letter for the accuracy of your name, entrance term, address and major. Address, telephone and email changes can be made on myUCF. All other changes must be submitted via email to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at uaoperations@ucf.edu.
✅ CREATE MYUCF ACCOUNT
You must create an account to access the myUCF Portal. MyUCF is where you will apply for housing, review your financial aid summary, update personal information, register for classes, view and pay your tuition and fee invoice, and complete other necessary steps to enroll at UCF.
To create a myUCF account, visit my.ucf.edu and click “SIGN IN TO MYUCF.” You will need to obtain an NID if you do not already know it. The NID will be your username for myUCF. Click “What is my NID?” on the login page. Your first and last name and email address must be entered exactly as it appears on your application for admission. Once you have your NID, return to the login page to sign in. You should remember and protect your NID and NID password as you would a Social Security number.
✅ REGISTER FOR ORIENTATION
New transfer students are required to attend an Orientation; Transient and Non-Degree Seeking students are exempt from attending Orientation. For more information about our mandatory new student program, please visit the New Student and Family Programs website. You will sign up for classes at Orientation. You must register for an Orientation session that corresponds to the term to which you are admitted.
✅ RESEARCH HOUSING OPTIONS
Many off-campus living arrangements are available to transfer students. The area surrounding the UCF Main Campus offers a wide variety of apartment complexes specifically designed for student living. Students are encouraged to research these options on the Off Campus Partners website. Rosen College of Hospitality Management majors may apply for on campus housing at the Rosen College Apartments in their myUCF portal and can find more information on the housing website. Students with majors offered at the UCF Downtown Campus are encouraged to consider UnionWest at Creative Village, our downtown affiliated housing partner.
✅ APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial aid is available to students who have been offered admission, filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), are classified as a degree-seeking student, have enrolled in at least one UCF class for the term they have been admitted, and met all other eligibility requirements. If your first term of enrollment at UCF is the summer term, you must first complete the prior year’s FAFSA in order to receive financial aid for that term.
If you are a financial aid recipient, your eligibility is based in part, upon the assumption that you have met the admission conditions specified in your admission letter. If it is later determined that you failed to meet an admission condition you will no longer be eligible for financial aid, and it will be canceled. In addition, you will be responsible for repaying any financial aid disbursed to you.
Visit the Financial Assistance website to begin the FAFSA filing process. If you have questions, contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance at 407-823-2827. You can also schedule an appointment by visiting finaid.ucf.edu/contact.
BEFORE ORIENTATION
✅ SUBMIT IMMUNIZATIONS RECORDS
Prior to attending orientation, you must upload a completed immunization form to UCF Student Health Services. The immunization policy and form may be downloaded from the Student Health Services website. Web-only students must contact UCF Health Services at 407-823-3707
✅ VERIFY RESIDENCY FOR TUITION PURPOSES
If you indicated you are claiming Florida residency for tuition purposes on your application, you must complete the Residency Declaration Form on your Future Knight Portal checklist. After you register for classes, access your fee invoice in myUCF to ensure that the appropriate tuition and fees are assessed.
NOTE: Students who did not indicate they are claiming Florida residency for tuition purposes will NOT see a Residency Declaration Form on their Future Knight Portal.
✅ REVIEW TRANFER CREDITS
College-level coursework will transfer to UCF from other accredited institutions of higher education that meet university transfer eligibility requirements. However, all of your credits may not meet the specific requirements of your degree program. The department of your major will determine how these credits will be used and applied toward your degree.
UCF uses a plus/minus system to calculate a grade point average for transferred coursework. In addition, grade forgiveness is only honored if it has been awarded in conjunction with an A.A. or statewide articulated A.S. degree from a Florida public community college, state college, or state university.
All incoming courses will be reviewed for UCF equivalency once you have signed up for Orientation. The Transfer Credit Evaluation is located in your myUCF Portal. To view it, navigate to “Student Self Service” and “Other Academic”. All courses received at the time of admission, as well as any associated UCF equivalencies, will be listed. For courses without a UCF equivalent, you will have the opportunity to upload a syllabus, and the course will be evaluated. You will have limited time to submit syllabi if needed so you should review the Transfer Credit Evaluation in myUCF at your earliest convenience.
BEFORE CLASSES BEGIN
✅ SUBMIT FINAL TRANSCRIPTS
A copy of your official final transcripts from each institution attended in required. The status of these transcripts is available on your myUCF Portal. If you satisfied the foreign language requirement in high school, a copy of your official final high school transcript must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Failure to provide final transcripts will jeopardize your ability to adjust your schedule, register for future terms, receive grades or have transcripts sent to other institutions.
✅ SUBMIT SCORE REPORTS
If you have taken AICE, AP, CLEP, or IB exams, you must send official score reports to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
✅ VERIFY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (SNN)
A missing incorrect or invalid SSN will prevent the awarding and/or disbursement of Florida Bright Futures and/or financial assistance through the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A valid SSN is also required to process certain third-party payments such as Florida Prepaid.
If you are a financial aid recipient, you may be asked to upload a copy of your Social Security Card to the UCF Secure Document Submission Form. It can take 10-15 business days from receipt of your Social Security Card to update your student record.
To review the SSN on file with UCF, log in to myUCF, select Student Self Service > Personal Information > Demographic Data. This page will display the SSN as the National ID.
If you are a recipient of the Florida Bright Futures scholarship and you do not have a Social Security Number, OSFA, Office of Student Financial Assistance – FL Department of Education, assigned you a pseudo number when you submitted your Florida Financial Aid Application. This number begins with P00-____. You can access your account on OSFA to view your number. Please email the UCF Office of Student Financial Assistance at finaid@ucf.edu and provide your full name, UCF ID number, and your pseudo number. By doing so, the university will be able to match your information with the state record so your scholarship funds can be disbursed.
✅ CHECK FOR HOLDS
Failure to provide final official transcripts and test scores will result in a hold being placed on your account. These holds will affect your ability to adjust your schedule, register for future terms, receive grades or have transcripts sent to other institutions. These holds will also delay the disbursement of financial aid.
