UCF students can learn about how to get involved with student and local nonprofit organizations at the Civic Engagement Fair.

The fair, hosted by Volunteer UCF, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, in the Ferrell Commons multipurpose room.

Representatives from organizations such as Best Buddies, Relay for Life, Heart of Florida United Way, Pet Rescue by Judy and UCF’s Student Government Association will be at the fair to help students take advantage of opportunities to serve and grow.

“We will be encouraging students to connect to each other through getting involved on campus and connect to Central Florida by volunteering, extending the UCF family and spirit to all of Orlando,” said Naomi Parks, assistant director of Volunteer UCF.

Community, one of the five tenets of the UCF Creed, is the key element of the fair, where students will be introduced to service-learning, volunteerism and general student involvement.

“Being an engaged citizen can be anything from actively participating in class to mentoring students at a local middle school,” Parks added.
