The steady stream of preseason praise for the UCF football team continues as Blue Ribbon Yearbooks recently announced its preseason picks and it includes a Conference USA East Division title for the Knights. Blue Ribbon also selected senior defensive lineman Bruce Miller (Canton, Ga.) as its Defensive Player of the Year in C-USA.

Miller is one of four Knights selected to Blue Ribbon’s preseason All-C-USA squad. The single team also includes cornerback Josh Robinson (Sunrise, Fla.), offensive tackle Jah Reid (Haines City, Fla.) and running back Brynn Harvey (Largo, Fla.).

The high expectations being placed upon the Knights are not a surprise. UCF returns 17 starters from an 8-5 team last fall that participated in the St. Petersburg Bowl. UCF led C-USA last fall in total, rushing, and scoring defense along with sacks and tackles for loss.

Named to several preseason All-America teams, Miller leads the nation in both career sacks (27) and career tackles for loss (44) entering the 2010 campaign. In fact, Miller’s 27 career sacks tie Florida’s Alonzo Johnson for the ninth-most ever by a FBS player in the college football-rich state of Florida, a list that includes six first round NFL Draft picks.
