The next time you visit Business Administration Building II (BA II), you will notice a new sign that reads “The Thomas L. Keon Testing Center,” hung above what was formerly known as the College of Business Administration Testing Lab.

The name change was made to recognize the accomplishments of former Dean Thomas Keon, who recently left to become chancellor of Purdue University Calumet.

“Dr. Keon was instrumental in starting the center. While he is no longer here, his vision remains, and the nationally-recognized facility serves as a model to other universities,” said Taylor Ellis, associate dean. “We renamed the center as a tribute to his leadership and dedication to student education.”

In addition to the name change, the center, as well as the Information Systems lab next door, is undergoing major renovations in an attempt to reduce wait times during peak hours. Upgrades to furniture, computers and the HVAC units will make both facilities more comfortable for students. Overall seating for both centers will increase from 224 to 278 seats.

The target completion date for completion is the beginning of the Fall 2011 term.
