Evans Community School, the first of its kind in Florida, will formally open its doors at a Grand Opening this Saturday, Oct. 13.

The founding partners of Evans Community School — UCF’s College of Health and Public Affairs, the Children’s Home Society of Florida and Orange County Public Schools — invite you to join in the celebration at the community school, located at Evans High School at 4949 Silver Star Road in the Pine Hills area of Orlando.

The celebration will include a community health and resource fair with nearly 50 vendors from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place from 12 to 12:30 p.m, and an open house will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Evans Community School is opening after nearly four years of planning by the partner organizations. The community school will offer an array of academic, health care and enrichment programs and services for Evans’ students, along with opportunities for parents to become more involved in their children’s education and to advance their own education and training.

Research has shown that as families grow stronger and more students succeed, opportunities for community and economic growth increase.
