Jessica Simmons, an adviser in the Interdisciplinary Studies department, has been honored by the National Academic Advising Association for her contributions to the improvement of academic advising.

NACADA is a nonprofit organization that helps to promote quality academic advising and the professional development of advisors nationwide. The organization honors individuals and institutions that are improving student development through effective advising programs.

Simmons will be presented with an Outstanding New Advisor Award at a special awards reception during the NACADA Annual Conference, which will be held in Orlando in October.
