Staff members from the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities spent an afternoon volunteering at Harvest Time International (HTI). Located in Sanford, HTI provides assistance to low-income families in the Central Florida area and relief aid to disaster, hunger, and refugee victims worldwide.

Locally, HTI houses the Community Hope Center which is a self-sufficiency program for anyone in need. Hundreds of local families depend on this program for food, a variety of household goods, and hygiene products. HTI’s impact also reaches globally; the organization collects and ships relief products across the world.

During their visit, OSRR staff members spent time sorting through 10 pallets of clothes – all of which had been donated by the Walt Disney World Resort.

Dana Juntunen, director of OSRR, spoke highly of the experience: “Spending the day outside of our normal routine and working as a team to give back to the community was an incredible experience. The parking lot of Harvest Time International was filled with people stocking up on food and clothes, which gave us a reality check of those in need around us.”

In March, OSRR will volunteer with A Gift For Teaching in Orlando. Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities is in the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services.
