Senior hurdler Lutisha Bowen was selected as the Conference USA Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. Bowen earned the first C-USA honor of the outdoor season as well as the first weekly honor since she joined the Knights.
Bowen jumped to No. 2 in the NCAA standings in the 100 hurdles with a first-place and personal-best time of 13.15 (+1.4) at the UCF Invitational last weekend. In addition, Bowen produced an all-conditions PR in the 100M with a fourth-place time of 11.80.
She also ran the first leg of UCF’s 4×100 relay team that set a school record with a time of 43.32, which currently ranks second in the world and sits 10th on the all-time collegiate women’s 4×100 relay list.
Bowen, who attended Eastern Kentucky for three seasons before transferring to UCF this year, has already made her final collegiate season a memorable one. She earned her first All-American distinction in the indoor season and was an All-C-USA Second Team honoree.
The No. 11 Knights claimed four of the six weekly awards during the indoor season en route to their second indoor C-USA title.
UCF will enjoy a break from competition this holiday weekend before heading to the Florida Relays on April 5-6 in Gainesville.
