UCF had a strong presence receiving recognition and awards at the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop conference which was hosted at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.

The O-Team competed in the Song, Skit, Dance, and Step competition against 47 other institutions. They brought home 3rd place in the Dance category.

In addition, Paige Woods, associate director for First Year Experience, received the NODA Region VI Outstanding Orientation, Transition, and Retention Professional Award.

Student Orientation coordinators and mentors Magdalena D’Aiuto, Jessie Dickens, and Michael Hart, presented an educational session titled, “OL Bootcamp: Becoming the Best Orientation Leader You Can Be!” D’Aiuto and Dickens also received a Best Problem Solving award for their Undergraduate Case Study room.

SROW includes nine southern states (LA, MS, AL, GA, FL, TN, KY, NC, SC) and is the Region VI conference for the national Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education (NODA). Over 2,000 students and professionals attended.
