The Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida will host approximately 250 high school students on its campus to introduce them to education and possible careers in the hospitality and tourism industry. The event will take place 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the UCF Rosen College campus on Friday, November 16, 2012.

The college has again teamed up with the Central Florida National Academy Foundation to host the fifth annual High School Conference and Tradeshow for students from five local high schools in Orange and Brevard counties. Students from Merritt Island High School, Rockledge High School, Colonial High School, Oak Ridge High School, and Freedom High School are invited to attend. Each of the invited schools has academic programs geared toward hospitality and tourism.

The National Academy Foundation (NAF) is an acclaimed national network of high school career academies predominately based in urban districts-schools within schools-with rigorous, career-themed curricula created with current industry and educational expertise. Each year, NAF serves more than 50,000 students in 40 states and the District of Columbia through the Academy of Finance, the Academy of Engineering, the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism, and the Academy of Information Technology.

This year’s theme, “The Hollywood of Hospitality,” will showcase the glitz and glamour of the hospitality industry’s biggest market, Orlando, FL, with guest speakers, a tradeshow with representatives from local colleges and universities, theme parks, hotels, and restaurants, a glimpse into the life of a UCF Rosen College student, including a tour of the on-campus housing, and a complimentary lunch. Representatives from local successful hospitality companies and organizations will share industry information and address questions from the high school students.

UCF Rosen College Event Management majors are planning and executing the event.
