The Central Florida Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) will host a “Walk to Cure Diabetes” on Saturday, March 6, at the University of Central Florida.

Registration for the event will start at 8 a.m., and the walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. Participants will walk 5 km (about 3 miles) across the university campus and through Bright House Networks Stadium. The event will feature food, entertainment and children’s activities.

The Orlando walk attracts an average of 4,000 attendees, and participants raised $456,924 last year. UCF is a sponsor of the 2010 walk, and several UCF teams will participate.

The worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes, JDRF hosts fundraising events across the nation. The walks are the organization’s largest and most successful fundraiser.
