The UCF fraternity Zeta Beta Tau recently was the recipient of the Joseph E. Glaser Award, “By going above-and-beyond in 2011-12,” presented by the national office of Zeta Beta Tau.
To qualify for the Glaser Award, chapters must raise and donate a minimum of $100 per brother or sponsor a significant philanthropic project within the year. But to win the award, a chapter must not only raise a substantial amount of money for a worthwhile charity, it must also demonstrate creativity and bring positive awareness in doing so.
Greg Mason, director of Fraternity and Sorority Housing, said: “Philanthropy and giving back to the community is an integral part of the values of fraternity life, and we at UCF encourage all of our fraternity and sorority members to be actively engaged in performing community service as well as raising money to benefit those in need. The Delta Iota Chapter of Zeta Beta Tau espouses such values and has proven to be a leader on campus in this area.”
Fraternity and Sorority Life is in the Division of Student Development and Enrollment Services. For more information and to view a video of the ZBT 2012 Grand Awards Banquet, visit: https://www.facebook.com/zbtucf/.
