One of these places to eat is the Tailgaters Restaurant and Bar. Tailgaters is located near the UCF Arena. It is a sports bar type restaurant that can seat about 200 people. There are 2 projection screens and about 12 LCD televisions. The sports bar food emphasizes appetizers, sandwiches, Bar-B-Q, wings, pasta, and some seafood. The chef plans to bring in other options such as more seafood choices. When my wife and I ate at Tailgaters, I had the half-pound of pulled pork meal ($9). My wife had a chicken Philly sandwich ($8). The food was quite good and the service was friendly and fast. There are a few lunch specials for $5 every day.

The selling point for this sports bar is the beer menu. They have 100 different bottled beers and 50 beers on tap. I was unfamiliar with most of these beers, but there were several old favorites. Prices vary and are quite reasonable. If you do not know what you want or want to try something new, the bartender will give you a small taste and brief explanation for a few beers. If you have a small group with varied tastes, they have a mixed beer order with 5 – 5-ounce glasses. Tailgaters is truly a place to try other beers from around the country and the world.

Free parking is available in Parking Lot F – located directly behind the Arena and about a 2-3 minute walk to the restaurant. Parking is NOT free during Arena events or football games. Tailgaters is about a 1 to 1.5-mile walk from University Estates homes for those who want a bit of exercise.

This is the first in a series of short articles for the University Estates Home Owners Association. In these articles, we will provide our residents of local activities of potential interest. We will begin with information about the University of Central Florida.
