helmetUCF junior defensive end Bruce Miller (Canton, Ga.) was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his outstanding performance in UCF’s thrilling 21-20 win over Marshall on Sunday night.

Miller’s team-high 10 tackles in the victory included three tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also stripped the ball from Marshall quarterback Brian Anderson with 2:12 to play, giving possession back to UCF for what became the game-winning touchdown drive in yet another furious fourth quarter rally for the Knights. Miller also broke up a pass, had two forced hurries and was an integral part of a defense that held Darius Marshall, the nation’s second-leading rusher, to a season-low 80 yards on 28 carries (2.9 avg.). With his 2.5 sacks last night, Miller now has 23 on his career, placing him fifth in UCF history. He also overtook teammate Jarvis Geathers (Andrews, S.C.) for the C-USA lead in both sacks and TFLs on the season.
