UCF Career Services hosted its annual Employment Prep Conference on September 15 in the UCF Student Union Pegasus Ballroom. This special career event, themed “Unlock Your Future with the Keys to Your Career,” helped students and graduates to prepare for the Fall 2010 Career Expo.

Hundreds of UCF students and alumni had the opportunity to interact with employers and UCF Career Services staff in a variety of forums.

The conference began with an employer panel featuring Human Resources Managers from EA Sports, The Buckle, Inc. and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Over 100 students and alumni attended the session, and many audience members asked the panelists for their advice on how to succeed in today’s difficult employment market.

The afternoon featured a variety of career preparation activities, including a series of workshops which focused on interview success, networking strategies, Career Expo success strategies, and the Internet job search.  Students also had the opportunity to conduct practice interviews and resume critiques with actual employers as well as professional Career Services staff members.

The students and alumni who attended the 2010 Employment Prep Conference left with stronger job search skills and a better understanding of what is necessary to be successful when searching for jobs and internships in the professional world.
