The Extreme Game Changers raised $2,252 for Kids Beating Cancer as the first-place winners of the fall Cornerstone Social Entrepreneurship Competition. Team members Fabiola Pagan, William Colbert, Emily Brouillard, Amanda Rosa, Jeff Horton and Leslie Bonnelly-Castrofort competed against 23 other exceptional teams enrolled in the Cornerstone course at the UCF College of Business Administration.
Kids Beating Cancer is a nonprofit organization dedicated to being a resource for children diagnosed with cancer, leukemia or related life-threatening diseases. Their objective is to ensure these children will receive the best treatment regardless of their family’s financial situation, while providing support for families as they face the challenging journey towards a cure.
“The Cornerstone Competition taught us how rewarding it is to give back to our community,” said team member William Colbert.
The Cornerstone Social Entrepreneurship Competition asks students to apply skills such as teamwork, project management, communication and ingenuity to build and implement a fundraising plan for their chosen organization. The Extreme Game Changers’ efforts resulted in 75 new hypoallergenic blankets for comfort during chemotherapy sessions.
