The UCF debate team of Stephen Sherbin II and Rebekah Waldorff placed 3rd at the recent North American Forensic Society’s “Continental Challenge” in Orlando. The Jan. 17-18 tournament attracted teams from as far away as New York and the west coast.

Sherbin and Waldorff in December also wrapped up the fall semester with a trip to the University of Miami for a parliamentary debate tournament. The Dec.  7 event featured four rounds of debate in which UCF’s team compiled a 2-2 record. Sherbin finished in 6th and Waldorff placed 9th out of 34 debaters representing 17 teams from UM, FIU, Rollins College, College of Central Florida, and Miami-Dade College.

Sherbin is a senior in hospitality management from Port St. John. Waldorff is a communication junior and lives in Malabar.

The UCF debaters are gearing up for the Feb. 21-23 Florida Intercollegiate Forensics Association state championships to be hosted by UCF at the Cocoa campus.
