A star student Erin is the recipient of the Jack D. Holloway Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship will support Erin over the next few semesters in her quest to fulfill a dream – a dream established through an experience that changed her life forever.
Living with her missionary parents in Papua, New Guinea, Erin saw firsthand how poor the medical system is there and has always wanted to have a positive effect on people’s lives. After shadowing a pediatric physical therapist in the U.S., she realized that she had found her calling. And since the Holloway family established the scholarship to continue the humanitarian and philanthropic values exemplified by Jack D. Holloway. Erin’s desire to help others makes her the right student for the scholarship.
“This scholarship assists me with my tuition and book expenses, something that I would have had to take out student loan to pay for. “I am so thankful for this scholarship and the opportunity it has given me,” said Erin. She is already giving back by participating with other students in a service project that assists children with disabilities.
In addition to being know for her community efforts, Erin is called a poster-child for UCF by her classmates. She received her bachelor’s degree in sports and fitness and show her spirit by attending every football game. She plans to return to New Guinea one day, the place that inspired her dream, but will never forget that UCF and the Holloway family helped her achieve that dream.
