Harris Corporation received the University of Central Florida’s Partnership Award at UCF’s Colbourn Society Reception on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

The Partnership Award is given to an organization that collaborates with the UCF community to further President John Hitt’s goal of being America’s leading partnership university.

Harris Corporation and its employees have supported the university’s academic programs for three decades. The company pledged $3 million for one of the newest academic buildings at UCF — The Harris Corporation Engineering Center — in 2005.

Harris Corporation also has invested more than $3 million in a research program that provides students with valuable opportunities to work side-by-side with the company’s top experts.

“A champion of our faculty and students for three decades, Harris Corporation has helped to establish UCF’s national reputation as a ‘partnership university,'” Hitt said. “Our UCF community benefits every day from the enthusiastic support that Harris Corporation provides for our academic programs, our state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories, and our research mission.”

Headquartered in Melbourne, the international communications and information technology company has approximately $5 billion in annual revenue and more than 15,000 employees, including many UCF alumni. The company also is a founding member of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council.
