Are you looking for a place to volunteer? Or, are you a non-profit organization looking for some help? Thanks to the efforts of a College of Business Administration alum, you are in luck.
Bruce Wang, ’08, is the chapter director for One Brick, a non-profit organization that brings volunteers together to support other local non-profits. Headquartered in San Francisco, Wang has started a chapter in Orlando.
Followers of the organization can check the community calendar to see which events need volunteers. The information is also posted on Facebook and Craigslist. The activities are diverse and can range from planting trees to stuffing envelopes. They vary throughout the year. In addition to helping the community, the volunteers also network with each other and socialize.
Wang became interested in volunteering after taking the Cornerstone Course and conducting a service learning project. “I learned a lot from the course such as managing groups, working effectively as a team, setting goals, and presentation skills,” he said.
“One Brick is a great place to grow as well. Not only are you helping the community, you can learn leadership and development skills and can become a volunteer event manager.”
