UCF posthumously awarded a doctorate degree on Friday to Maribel Pina, who also was a UCF employee. Her children accepted her degree in the ceremony.

The 50,000th degree through DirectConnect to UCF was awarded on Friday. The program, which includes partnerships with local state colleges, has helped increase the minority graduation rate. 

The program expands access to affordable education and helps fuel the local talent pipeline.
