A $250,000 gift from Sarasota resident Jessica Blume (’80) will support a scholarship program for UCF business students who are the first in their families to attend college.

Along with his head-coaching duties, Gus Malzahn asked to be included in the marketing, messaging and promotion of UCF’s football program when he was hired earlier this year. Malzahn says the “fit” at UCF has been perfect, and he feels his transition has been seamless.

College of Business students are learning in an unconventional class format, where the professor goes from “the sage on the stage” to “the guide on the side.” No textbooks are used in this class, and attendance is required just like at a job.

Youcheng Wang, dean of UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, commented on how the Central Florida region's economic recovery has impacted Rosen students, and how the College has been working to innovate the hospitality industry nationwide.

UCF began administering the COVID-19 vaccine to students, with enough doses to vaccinate about 6,000 students with both doses. Vaccination appointments are in the Student Union.

UCF this fall will become the first public university in the country to offer a master’s degree in computer vision. The technology of this field is used in surveillance, self-driving cars, surgical procedures and more, and is rapidly growing in demand.
