UCF alumnus Josh Sitton took a big step towards earning his first Pro Bowl selection on Wednesday when he was announced as the leading fan vote recipient in the NFC for offensive guards.

The third-year pro has started all 14 games thus far at right guard for the Green Bay Packers who stand at 8-6 on the season and in the hunt for a wild card playoff berth.

Pro Bowl teams are compiled by a consensus of votes by the fans, coaches and players with each vote counting for one third. NFL coaches and players will cast their votes today and tomorrow. The team will be announced at 7 p.m. on Dec. 28 live on NFL Network.

Sitton is aiming to be the fourth different Knight to ever earn a Pro Bowl berth and the first offensive lineman. Daunte Culpepper (2001, 2004-05), Brandon Marshall (2009-10) and Asante Samuel (2008-10) are UCF’s previous representatives in the NFL’s elite player showcase.

The Pro Bowl moves back to Aloha Stadium in Honolulu this year and will be played on Jan. 30, 2011.
