It has been a pleasure working with you during my first weeks as your president. Every day, I see how hard you work to help lift lives and livelihoods among our students and in our community.

Your commitment to UCF is unmatched. And because of that, I have approved raises that will take effect in September, as well as five additional paid days off in December.

Raises

All eligible faculty, A&P and USPS staff who are not represented by a union will receive 2 percent raises. Raises for those who are represented by unions must be collectively bargained and then approved by union membership and the Board of Trustees.

I am proud to share that for the next five years our vice presidents and I will direct our 2018 raises to fund scholarships for first-generation students. For every dollar directed, the State of Florida matches it with an additional $2. With this combined contribution, we will raise more than $1 million in new scholarships for our students over the next five years.

Raises will be effective Sept. 7 and will be reflected in your Sept. 28 paychecks. You can find more information here.

December Holidays

I’m a strong believer in taking time to recharge. We all benefit from having the opportunity to relax, reflect and spend quality time with our family, friends and the people we love.

The December holidays provide us with an important break to re-energize before we start 2019. We are announcing the December holidays earlier than usual to give you more time to make plans.

UCF will remain open through Friday, Dec. 21, and then reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Eligible employees will be paid for these additional days off: Dec. 24, 26, 27, 28 and 31.

Please talk with your supervisor for more details about how these apply to you.

I’m looking forward to an exciting fall semester. I can’t wait to see the impact you’ll have on and off campus!
