Three graduates of the University of Central Florida’s College of Education have been recognized by Seminole County Public Schools as 2012 Rookie Teachers of the Year.
Savannah Casey, Katelyn Moore and Nicholas Gissal received the honor for their outstanding contributions as teachers in elementary, middle and high school classrooms, respectively. They were recommended for the honor by their principals and colleagues for their dedication, hard work and achievements in student success.
Casey graduated from UCF in spring 2011. She is a second grade teacher at Goldsboro Elementary School.
Moore teaches language arts to gifted students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades at Indian Trails Middle School. She graduated from UCF in fall 2009.
Gissal, a tenth grade language arts teacher at Lake Howell High School, graduated from UCF in spring 2011.
