Several local entities were recognized Wednesday for promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as part of the 5th annual Beacon Awards held at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

This year’s winners include: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, which won in the Large Business category; Carlton Fields, for Medium Businesses; A&P International, Small Business; The Center for Drug Free Living, Nonprofit; University of Central Florida, Government; Sister Ann Kendrick, Diversity Champion Individual; Asian American Chamber, Diversity Champion Organization; and Orlando Health, Minority Supplier Advocate.

In addition to the group awards, local businessman and philantrhopist Alan Ginsburg received the Luminary Award.

The awards began in 2006 in an effort to spotlight community leaders in the areas of workplace diversity and inclusion. Founders of the awards include the Orlando chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Walt Disney World Resort, the YaYa Network and Orlando Business Journal.
