On October 10, 2015 a group of 24 enthusiastic UCF Knights traveled to Washington, D.C. to be a part of history. Walking alongside community leaders and activists, UCF students participated in the Million Man March 20th Anniversary commemorative event. Hosting their own array of fundraising initiatives and partnering with community participants, the students made this trip happen.

In 1995, the Million Man March brought together African-American men in one of the largest civil rights rallies in history.

The “Justice or Else” rally was held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the march and call for policing reforms and changes in black communities.

Student leader Courtney Handy had this to say about the event, “The trip was absolutely amazing. We generated great conversations that I hope will lead to a new era of leadership on campus. I personally felt empowered and uplifted to be surrounded by thousands, all seeking justice for our community in some way.”
