UCF to Implement Multi-Factor Authentication for all Faculty and Staff

The University of Central Florida’s Information Security Office and UCF IT will begin implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) service for all faculty and staff this week.

Today’s sophisticated cybersecurity threats require the use of strong authentication systems to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of sensitive information.

Starting Feb. 17, all employees will be automatically enrolled in MFA. Enrollment will be divided up by college and division, and is expected to take roughly one month to enroll all faculty and staff. Emails informing employees of their enrollment date will be sent a few days before their enrollment. A full schedule can be found here.

MFA provides an additional layer of security when logging into Microsoft 365 applications, such as Outlook Online, OneDrive and Teams, ensuring that only you can access your accounts — even if your account is compromised.

With MFA enabled, you will still log in with your NID and NID password, but you will also be prompted to verify your identity with your phone, tablet or another device of your choosing. This will safeguard data, privacy and sensitive information for you and the university.

We encourage you to visit the MFA website to get additional information about MFA and other resources that may assist you with a smooth transition of your enablement.
