Dr. Shriram “Sam” Marathe, a physician and owner of Medical Specialists , graduated from UCF’s Doctoral Program in Public Affairs in 2006. After experiencing his own success, he understands how important UCF is to his community.

By investing in the Dr. Thomas T.H. Wan Scholarship, Sam knows that he is giving to students who need financial assistance.  And because the College of Health and Public Affairs gave him tools to build his own future,  Sam feels that giving back to UCF is personal. “I have chosen to give to this scholarship because it is personal for me. I am investing in the lives of our future leaders,” Sam said.

It’s also personal because Wan was Sam’s professor at UCF. “He was a dedicated student driving from his home in St. Augustine to Orlando to take evening classes at UCF,” said Wan, director of the doctoral program and associate dean for the research in the college.

It’s community leaders like Sam that exemplify ways UCF students and leaders strengthen our community by supporting students who will become future leaders.
