Jessica Fellowes, author of international best-seller, The World of Downton Abbey, and its follow-up The Chronicles of Downton Abbey, will speak at UCF on Sept. 30. The event, titled “An Afternoon with Downton Abbey,” will be 3-4:30 p.m., in the Cape Florida Ballroom of the Student Union. Organized by the Global Perspectives Office, the event is free and open to the public.

Fellowes is the niece of Julian Fellowes, creator of the hit PBS television series, “Downton Abbey.” Her two Downton Abbey books give behind-the-scenes details and insight into the world of the show. For the books, Fellowes did extensive research on the social history of the early 20th century, including changes women experienced and the relationship between the technological changes of then and now.

In addition to the Downton Abbey books, Fellowes wrote Mud & the City: Do’s and Don’ts for Townies in the Country and co-authored The Devil You Know: Looking Out for the Psycho in Your Life. Her freelance journalist work can be found in The Daily Paragraph, Sunday Times Style, The Lady and The Times.

In addition to the Global Perspectives Office, sponsors and partners of the event include the UCF Book Festival 2014 in Association with the Morgridge International Reading Center, UCF College of Education, UCF Diplomacy Program, UCF Global Peace and Security Studies Program, Chastang Charitable Foundation, CliftonLarsonAllen, Orlando Area Committee on Foreign Relations, WUCF TV, UCF Political Science Department, UCF International Services Center, UCF LIFE and the Global Connections Foundation.
