The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure returns to UCF at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. Organizers expect about 10,000 participants, and the event goal is to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Please be aware of road closures and parking areas that will be inaccessible during the walk.

Starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, West Plaza Drive from North Orion Boulevard to Garage G will be closed to traffic. Knights Victory Way from East Plaza Drive North to West Plaza Drive also will be shut down for vehicles. All parking garages will remain open on Saturday.

Starting at 5 a.m. Sunday, all of Greek Park Drive and Aquarius Agora Drive will be closed. Vehicles parked off of those two roads will be able to exit until 7 a.m.  However, vehicles will not be allowed to exit between 7 a.m. and when it’s safe to reopen the road after the last race participant leaves the area.

Starting at 6 a.m. Sunday, all of West Plaza Drive and East Plaza Drive, as well as Mensa Lane, will be closed. Gemini Boulevard North will be closed between the campus entrance at Alafaya Trail and North Orion Boulevard. Vehicles will be able to exit via those streets until 7 a.m.

Vehicles will not be able to enter or leave Parking Garage H or the Lake Claire parking lots (H5-H10) from 6 a.m. until the last race participant clears the area and that portion of the course has been broken down.

Vehicles will not be able to enter or leave Garages F and G from 7 a.m. until about 8:45 a.m. Sunday. At that time, access to the garages will be limited to entry from West Plaza Drive.

Vehicles parked in lots H1-H4 will be able to exit the campus using Centaurus Drive throughout the entire race day.

Race for the Cure participants are encouraged to arrive before 7 a.m. and should park in garages C, D or H. Late arrivals for the Race for the Cure will be directed to park by the soccer field.

Portions of the Race for the Cure route will be reopened as it becomes safe to do so. We expect campus traffic and parking to return to normal no later than 10 a.m. with the exception of Knights Victory Way between East Plaza Drive and West Plaza Drive, which will remain closed until approximately 1 p.m.

Road closures and the race route can be viewed here.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
