For just the second time in its 10-year history, UCF’s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy will hold Experience FIEA Day on Feb. 10 for prospective students who want to check out the No. 1 graduate game-development program in the world.

The open house will include a VIP tour, an opportunity to meet faculty and staff, game demonstrations and a showing of an arcade documentary called Man vs. Snake, which chronicles one man’s quest to reclaim the world record on the classic arcade game Nibbler.

Along with the film will be a presentation and Q&A by the movie’s creator, Andrew Seklir, who also worked on Warehouse 13, Westworld and Battlestar Galactica.

On the tour, visitors can see the facility’s soundstage and motion-capture area, classrooms and FIEA Ventures, a state-of-the-art digital media workspace to encourage alumni start-up companies.

FIEA offers a 16-month master’s degree in interactive entertainment. The program’s inaugural class had just 12 students when it started but the academy has since enrolled more than 500 students and last year was named the No. 1 graduate game-development program in the world by the Princeton Review.

Experience FIEA Day will be 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with the documentary beginning at 6 p.m.

The academy is at 500 Bentley St. in downtown Orlando.
