A member of the No. 11 UCF Track and Field team has done it again – freshman sprinter Octavious Freeman (Lake Wales, Fla.) was named the Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Week. The Knights have earned the award four of the five weeks this year, and Tuesday’s accolade accounts for Freeman’s third of the season.

The Bowerman Award Watch List member improved her nation-best time to 7.19 in the semifinals of the 60 meters at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., this past weekend. The time ranks sixth among all Americans – professional or amateur – this indoor season. She then went on to clock a time of 7.20 in the finals to win the event.

Freeman also recorded the NCAA’s 11th-best mark in the finals of the 200 meters with a season-best performance of 23.56. She finished fourth in the event and now holds the top mark in C-USA along with teammate Aurieyall Scott.
