New York City’s up-and-coming contemporary artists are the focus of a new exhibit opening this week at the UCF Art Gallery.

Entitled “Fresh from Chelsea: 21 Young NYC Artists from the Lisa and Robert Feldman Collection,” this exhibition will feature artists from the former meatpacking district, called Chelsea, who are defining contemporary art in New York City. While artists in this exhibit are well established, each is still just beginning their artistic career. Many are not long out of graduate school.

The exhibit will run from Thursday, Jan. 14, through Friday, Feb. 26, on the university’s main campus.

The collection comes from Dr. Robert and Lisa Feldman of Winter Park, who hold many of Central Florida’s most important contemporary art collections. The couple is often called upon to lend their artwork to exhibitions across the country.
