More than 600 academic institutions compete in the KCACTF. Regional festivals showcase the finest of each region’s entered productions and are judged by a panel of three respondents. The Learned Ladies, written by Moliere, is a satire on young love, “pretentious intellects” and male/ female power struggles. The production is presented in the traditional Commedia del arte style that heavily influenced Moliere’s work: audience participation, lots of physical comedy and comic archetypes that originated in Ancient Greece but are still present in the sitcoms and sketch comedies of today.
