A pair of local products from the UCF baseball team were selected during the final day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft as senior outfielder Chadd Hartman (Windermere, Fla.) and junior infielder Shane Brown (Winter Park, Fla.) were picked Thursday. Hartman was selected by San Diego in the 43rd round and Brown was tabbed by the New York Yankees in the 47th round. (Brown made NCAA history in April by reaching base 18-straight times.)
In total, three Knights were selected in the draft as junior pitcher Austin Hudson (Orlando, Fla.) went in the 27th round Wednesday to Seattle.
Since the inception of the UCF baseball program, 70 Knights have been picked in the draft.
