UCF College of Nursing is celebrating the university’s 50th anniversary with festivities scheduled March 26-28.

On Tuesday, March 26, the college is celebrating with its 2012-2013 student scholarship donors and recipients at a luncheon on campus. This event is by invitation only. The college hosts this annual event to pay tribute to its generous donors. This year, the college will award more than $115,000 in aid through 25 student scholarships. To commemorate the occasion, all scholarship donors will receive a framed 9×12 watercolor painting by local artist Daniel Tilstra.

Each year, a Tilstra watercolor is commissioned by the college as a thank you gift for donor support. This year’s painting is of an orange blossom, Florida’s state flower.

“As we celebrate the university and its 50 year history, we’re reflecting upon Central Florida’s orange grower industry, which has been vital to our economy,” says Katie Korkosz, director of development for the UCF College of Nursing. “Like the orange, the university has been an integral part of the community; forging community partnerships, fostering economic growth and providing leadership for a better future.”

On Wednesday, March 27, the college is celebrating with college alumni, friends and fashion enthusiasts at the college’s second annual fashion show for nursing scholarships shopping event from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bella Winter Park, a women’s boutique on Park Avenue. Store owner, Susan Johnson, is donating 10% of proceeds from the evening shopping event and select purchases made through Sunday, March 31 to the UCF College of Nursing student scholarship fund. The community can get involved by mentioning the UCF College of Nursing student scholarship fund when making their purchases March 27-31. Seating is limited for the exclusive fashion show shopping event. RSVP at nursingevents@ucf.edu or call 407-823-0671.

On Thursday, March 29, the college will celebrate with college alumni and friends by hosting a continuing education dinner on Stable Ischemic Heart Disease from 6 to 8 p.m. at Del Frisco’s in Winter Park. This program will utilize a case-based approach to illustrate lessons learned from clinical practice on screening, risk stratification and therapeutic challenges not adequately addressed by controlled clinical trial data. Seating for this event is at capacity. Seating is still available for two April lectures. RSVP at https://www.nursing.ucf.edu/.
