UCF senior defensive tackle Torrell Troup (Conyers, Ga.) was one of 40 players who received a spot on the 2009 Outland Trophy Watch List which was released by the Football Writers Association of America today. The list includes both offensive and defensive interior linemen from across the country (tackles, guards and centers).
Troup is coming off a junior season in which he was voted onto the All-Conference USA Second Team for posting 52 tackles, two sacks and 12.5 tackles for a loss while starting all 12 games. He has played in 25 contests the previous two years, and has recorded 73 total tackles since 2006.
The Outland Trophy, presented annually since 1946, is the third oldest award in major college football. The winner of the Outland Trophy, named after the late John Outland, an All-America lineman at Penn and Kansas at the turn of the century, will be announced on the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show on Dec. 10 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
