The high-tech company’s gift to UCF is valued at $13 million.
It includes 100,494 square feet of office space, manufacturing and clean-room facilities, plus a five-acre property. In addition, Intersil will provide utilities and assist with operating expenses during the first three years of UCF’s ownership.
Intersil, a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced its gift to UCF in April.
UCF will use the site to expand its presence in Brevard County as a center for innovation and education.
Leaders at the event described the gift as a significant partnership between the university and the private sector, providing new research opportunities and an economic boost to Brevard County as it prepares for the loss of the space shuttle program.
