Expect traffic, parking changes and road closures Friday due to a campaign event at the CFE Arena.

The event is scheduled to start at 5 p.m., though crowds are anticipated to arrive at UCF much earlier.

The event is being run by the campaign, but UCF is providing the below information to help event attendees and media covering the rally.

UCF is a public university that supports free speech and the exploration of different viewpoints. It is not unusual for our facilities to host guest speakers, concerts and other events. Campaign events are not sponsored by the university, and UCF has not, and will not, endorse any political candidates.

UCF is working closely with campaign security and local law enforcement to ensure a safe and smooth event for all. Law enforcement will be providing security inside the Arena at the discretion of event organizers.

Parking

Some students who live in Towers 1 and 2 and park in Garage G will be required to move their vehicles to an alternate location by 7 a.m. Friday.

All floors of the east side of Garage G – the side nearest to the CFE Arena — will be unavailable for parking, and a map outlining the portion of the garage that will be blocked off is available here: https://www.ucf.edu/news/wp-content/blogs.dir/20/files/2016/10/G-Garage.pdf

Garage F will close at 7 a.m. Friday. Vehicles left in Garage F or in the blocked portion of Garage G are subject to towing as of 7 a.m. Friday.

Students parked on the west side of Garage G will be unable to move their cars from noon to 9 p.m. due to the closure of West Plaza Drive. If you need to leave campus during that time, you should move your car to a different garage or lot before noon Friday.

Because garages C, D and H will be utilized for event parking, students and faculty and staff members are encouraged to park in a garage or lot on the other side of campus.

Closures

East Plaza Drive will close at 7 a.m. Friday.

All Knight Study inside the CFE Arena will close at 11 a.m. Friday.

West Plaza Drive will close at noon Friday.

Gemini Boulevard between East and West Plaza Drives will close at 1 p.m. Friday.

The roads will reopen following the event, likely around 9 p.m. All Knight Study will reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Information for Attendees

Tickets for the event are being distributed by the campaign online and also at the CFE Arena Wednesday and Thursday.

Entry is first come, first served and at the discretion of event organizers. Attendees should arrive early and expect airport-style security upon entry.

Prohibited items include homemade signs, large bags and backpacks, alcohol, weapons, noisemakers and costumes. A full list of prohibited items is available here.

No outside food or drinks are allowed inside the event, but arena concession stands will be open.

ADA drop-off and pick-up will be available in front of the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center. There will be a designated ADA entrance at the front of the Arena.

Information for Media

Members of the media who are covering the event must register online at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdLHfykLt7FiNW6zsBQEZSsnfeHM-VXsxcyoELYxULFcJM5ug/viewform by 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

Media inquiries about the event should be directed to the campaign, and additional information will be sent by the campaign to media that RSVP.

Parking for satellite trucks and other vehicles that need to run cables into the Arena will be available along East Plaza Drive starting at 7 a.m. Friday. Those vehicles should enter via Gemini Boulevard. Note that space there is limited, so media should arrive early to ensure a spot.
