Smoke from a prescribed burn on the east side of the UCF campus should subside by this afternoon. Landscape & Natural Resources started the burn just south of the softball field this morning.
The Florida Forest Service is assisting UCF’s Landscape & Natural Resources staff.
The prescribed burns are conducted regularly to remove dead, decaying or low-lying plants on the forest floor. The process helps maintain healthy ecosystems and prevent unplanned fires.
