The Volusia/Flagler UCF Alumni Chapter is accepting applications for the $500 Lee A. Dumas Memorial Scholarship given to a commendable student who resides in Volusia County or Flagler County and attends the UCF Daytona Beach campus.
Applicants are required to have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and must be involved in extracurricular activities. A 500-word essay must also be submitted to answer the question, “What are your long-term goals and how will attending UCF, and this scholarship, help you in achieving them?”
The Lee A. Dumas Memorial Scholarship Endowment was created in memory of the Volusia/Flagler Alumni Chapter’s former chair, who passed away on Jan. 19, 2008. Dumas’ passion for education and UCF was evident throughout his life; he was a dedicated volunteer with the alumni association and helped make this scholarship possible for deserving students.
Interested candidates can apply for the scholarship by visiting the UCF Alumni website at https://ucfalumni.com/scholarships. Applicants can download the 2010-11 scholarship application packet, in which they will find instructions on submitting their applications.
The deadline to submit an application for the Lee A. Dumas Memorial Scholarship is 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, and the scholarship will be awarded during the fall 2010 semester.
