University of Central Florida students seeking financial help to study abroad are encouraged to consider the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.

The program offers grants for undergraduate students of limited financial means who are interested in expanding their academic experience through study abroad programs.

This year, five UCF students received the Gilman Scholarship, which is supporting their studies in countries such as the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Taiwan.

The Gilman Scholarship is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens who receive a Federal Pell Grant, have been accepted into a study abroad program for school credit and will be studying in the country for at least four consecutive weeks.

Scholarship recipients are awarded up to $5,000 depending on their length of study and financial need.
