Governor Rick Scott kicked off the ‘Share a Little Sunshine’ campaign March 1 at UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management.

The initiative is designed to promote tourism to the Sunshine State and boost employment.  “Every 85 visitors create one Florida job,” said Scott. “Tourism is the bedrock of Florida.”

The rally, hosted in the college’s Darden Auditorium, was a collaborative effort with Visit Florida, Visit Orlando and the Partnership for Florida’s Tourism.

Rosen College Dean Abraham Pizam welcomed the Governor and remarked, “Rosen College is where the industry begins; we train the future leaders.”  Students, faculty and staff attending the event were given yellow ‘Share a Little Sunshine’ tee shirts to promote the campaign.

VISIT FLORIDA’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Chris Thompson, shared a brief video. “More tourists equal more jobs.  Let’s celebrate the paradise we live in,” said Thompson.

After the rally, Dr. Pizam gave Governor Scott a private tour of Rosen College. Upon leaving the campus, Scott traveled to areas hit by cold winter weather including Washington, DC, Philadelphia, New York and Chicago.
