The UCF College of Business Administration’s Department of Marketing recently partnered with Jim Pridemore, president of the Oviedo Marketplace Merchants Association, to develop strategic marketing plans for the Oviedo Marketplace (OMP).

Working closely with Ron Michaels, chair of the Department of Marketing, Pridemore requested the help of the students in the development of real-world marketing plans for OMP. Under the guidance of course instructor Robert Cascio, student teams recommended strategic plans aimed at boosting consumer traffic and confidence, as well as revenue, and profitability for the economically-stricken mall. Students in the Summer B classes presented their recommendations to Pridemore. Suggestions included increased community involvement, social venue positioning, exterior renovations, open space utilization, movie promotions, and the development of a unique dining and entertainment experience for the mall. These and other suggestions were well received and Pridemore will propose plan implementation to mall management and the merchants association in the near future.
