UCF researchers explore ways to retrofit air conditioning systems to help all of us reduce our costs and carbon output, comfortably.

The project is one of 19 selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to fulfill President Biden’s Investing in America agenda.

The team, led by Kelly Stevens, will take its designs and data from Phase 1 of the project and implement them into fully built and tested trailers that will serve residents in need during future emergencies.

The startup-university partnership is creating a technology to convert stranded gas methane, which is a common byproduct of oil production, to methanol, that can be used in low-carbon fuels and other materials.

The $50,000 award allows the university’s team to develop the project with government and community partners.

RESNET’s new tool is called the CO2e Rating Index and is the first of its kind.

UCF and Mitsubishi Power to co-host hydrogen forum Sept. 8 to address hydrogen’s role in the nation’s push to achieve net-zero carbon emissions.
