Orlando Sentinel Editorial Supports UCF Downtown
The Orlando Sentinel this week endorsed UCF’s plans to create a campus in downtown Orlando that would serve about 7,700 students – saying the campus plan has only been made stronger over the past year.
“Given its potential to transform Orlando and its increasing support from public and private partners, the campus has earned favorable consideration from the succession of decision makers who could advance or stall it in the coming weeks, including the Orlando City Council, the Florida Board of Governors, the Florida Legislature and [Gov.] Scott,” the editorial says.
“With so much to gain for Orlando, it shouldn’t be hard for Dyer to persuade council members to sign off on the city’s contributions to the downtown campus. UCF’s plan also merits support from the Florida Board of Governors, which oversees the State University System.”
