Jose Lopez, Rosen College of Hospitality Management class of 2010, currently works for General Mills Bakeries and Foodservice Division in Minneapolis as a Business Management Associate.

While at Rosen College, Lopez took part in a 12-week internship as a Business Management associate intern for the global manufacturer and marketer of consumer food products. The position dealt with sales between General Mills, restaurants, hotels and convenience stores and resulted in a full-time career. The former Hospitality Management major is now responsible for supporting the K-12 foodservice segment.

While at Rosen College, Lopez was a student ambassador and the vice president of the student chapter of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality.

He shares, “General Mills Bakeries and Foodservice Division caters to many hospitality operations. When I joined the K-12 team I was surprised to find out that school cafeterias are run like restaurants, as the schools plan menus and execute daily foodservice operations. I was excited to share my knowledge of restaurants with my new team.”

On the topic of landing a successful internship, Lopez shares, “My advice to students is to search for a company where you can use skills and experiences that you are passionate about. General Mills is the perfect company for me. Not only do I get to leverage my passions for sales and hospitality, but I get to work for one of the best food companies.”

Lopez recently accepted a promotion and starting Jan. 2012,  will become a Foodservice Operator Specialist with Foodservice Sales.
