Dr. Barry Kerzin, personal physician to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, will speak at the UCF College of Medicine Thursday on “Professionalism and the Doctor-Patient Relationship.”
The event, sponsored by Jacque & Rip Gellein, begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception at the medical education building, 6850 Lake Nona Blvd, Orlando, 32827. The presentation and Q/A will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
A monk, practitioner and teacher, Dr. Kerzin completed his B.A. at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in philosophy and received his medical degree at the University of Southern California. Later, he was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington. He was ordained as a Bikkshu by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Bodh Gaya after 19 years of study and meditation. He has lived in Dharamsala for 23 years and provides medical care to many high lamas as well as poor people in India, all on a charitable basis.
